Reds on Song

A very good Old Redcliffians team who have recently put a number of good sides to the sword.

Drybrook R.F.C 10pts
Old Redcliffians 55pts

Despite starting well and putting the visitors under early pressure Drybrook were unable to match the strength and pace of a very good Old Redcliffians team who have recently put a number of good sides to the sword.
Old Reds kicked off playing towards the clubhouse but Drybrook applied all the early pressure. Reds were forced to give away a number of penalties and should have gone points down when Drybrook crossed the line but dropped the ball. The ref brought play back and yellow carded the Reds number ten for slowing the ball down. Treherne kicked the penalty and the home team took an early three-point lead.
Reds soon hit back though when their number eight picked up from the base of the scrum and drove over for a try converted by the outside centre.

.
Drybrook fought back and again were across the visitor’s line but the ref adjudged the ball to have been held up and Reds were able to relieve the pressure with a goal line drop-out.
Old Reds began to show their quality and on twenty-seven minutes their impressive inside centre broke through for a good try converted by the outside half.
Another good move out behind saw the visitors move the ball left to right and outflank the defence for the Reds number eleven to go over in the corner, which he duplicated five minutes later to take the half time score to twenty-six points to three in favour of the away team.
It was not long into the second half before the Reds winger was able to complete his hat-trick with another well -rehearsed move from a lineout.
Drybrook although up against it never lost heart and continued to battle. A good break from Olly Moore was followed up by Sam Peaper but again he was held up over the line.
Drybrook came back again and this time they did get some reward for their endeavour as Mitch Hale drove over for a try converted by Treherne.
From then on though it was Reds who stepped up a gear and they added four more try’s to their tally to run out comfortable and worthy winners.
Drybrook won’t be too disheartened though. They showed plenty of spirit and determination and will certainly get better rewards against sides with less quality than Old Reds possess.

Drive on Dry!
