Drybrook came up against a well drilled Weston outfit, who made life difficult for the Manning’s boys, and thoroughly deserved their victory.
Drybrook kicked off in front of a packed stand and went straight on the offensive. Good driving play from the forwards produced quick ball which was worked back to fullback TomTreherne who was caught just a yard from the line. Drybrook continued to press but the Weston defence held firm and when they did break-out it was with clinical precision and they crossed for an unconverted try.
They followed this five minutes later, when Drybrook were penalised for holding on in the breakdown, with another three points. Drybrook rallied and Will Greenway, returning after injury, along with skipper Ben Large, also returning after cosmetic surgery to his nose, were taking the game forward with surging runs deep into the Weston half.
The visitors were forced to give away a penalty

.
for coming in at the side of the ruck and Tom Treherne slotted the three points.
The home scrum had been under pressure from the big Weston pack and they gained a number of penalties frustrating Drybrooks attacking options. That frustration showed when they conceded a penalty for not rolling away, and compounded their indiscretion by back chatting the referee, who marched them back a further ten yards, making for an easy three-point Weston penalty kick.
Although they lacked cohesion as a team a number of Drybrook players were doing their best to reduce the deficit, and when they earned a penalty on the stroke of half time to bring the score-line back to six points to eleven, the home crowd were given some encouragement for a better second half.
This was to be short lived however as Weston scored their second try straight from the kick-off.

Unusually for this Drybrook team there was not the usual fight and vigour and when Weston scored again after twenty minutes you could sense the feeling of despondency creeping in.
The last twenty minutes did though reassert some pride in the Drybrook ranks. An injury forced changes and Danny Price showed he is still a force in the back-row, and his endeavour seemed to lift the rest of the team.
With five minutes to go a lovely break released winger Owen Davis for a score in the corner to give Drybrook hope of salvaging a bonus point.
It was sadly not to be as Weston defended well for the final few minutes and cleared to touch to end the game.
