Drybrook 3’s made the short trip to Cinderford, to take on their closest rivals at Dockham Road.
It was a pleasure to see three players in the starting lineup making the step up from the junior section to senior rugby, and what a fixture to make that step.
With visibility poor due to the descending fog, both teams took the pitch with a mixture of young exuberance and wise older heads scattered across the park.
It was Drybrook who got the game under way, and immediately young debutant Callum Coe put Cinderford under pressure with a great kick chase into the home sides 22. Unfortunately the young squirrel was adjudged to have knocked on.
With the biggest front row assembled in green shirts for some time, Drybrook took the ball against the head and went on the offensive through Fraser Wilkes.
The green army applied the pressure with big carries from ash Nelmes and mark castree, and quick ball from scrum half Kieran Aucker-Howlett enabled captain Ben (the Tank) Casey to barge his way over in the corner for the first score of the game.

From the restart the Drybrook pack began to assert their dominance and somewhat bullied the opposition pack. Credit to the young Cinderford side who defended resiliently and spreading the ball wide went on the attack through their rapid backline.
Drybrook defended well and after good work at the break down were awarded a penalty.
A kick to touch 10 yards from the Cinderford try line and a well worked line out move allowed captain Casey to crash over the white wash for his and the men in green’s second.
