U13 Girls show grit and determination

A strong squad of ten Under 13 girls turned up at a very chilly North Bristol.

With a cutting breeze, the U13’S got straight in to the warm up looking keen to start.
From the kick off Drybrook started fast and got the first try of the game. Straight after N Bristol returned with the next try, then the next and the next.
Unfortunately Drybrook were dominated in the rucks by North Bristol and one player in particular who was getting her hands on the ball at every opportunity.
In the second quarter there was a injury to a North Bristol player who fell awkwardly in a tackle and hurt her back. (We can report the player is well, just a bit bruised.)

Due to the injury the game had to be completed on another pitch with the third quarter very much the same as the first half the game.
Drybrook U13’S came together before the fourth and final quarter, speaking about keeping the ball away from the rucks and playing a more fluid, expansive game.
A period of champagne rugby then followed, keeping the ball away from the opposition and passing the ball around which I could only describe as “Fijian 7s style” rugby.
This produced one try for Drybrook, quickly followed by another.
North Bristol fought back with a try of their own

but they had no answer to this fast pace running rugby.
In the end the Drybrook Girls didn’t win the game but they did finish on a real high with some amazing rugby played.
The Drybrook Girls should be commended for showing real grit and determination in the face of adversity.

Well done Girls.
