Scrummage gives solid foundation

Drybrook Ladies travelled to Hucclecote for a local League derby, and the weather brightened up after a period of rain making the conditions ideal.

From the first whistle Drybrook’s forwards took the game to their opposition carrying well and forcing the Hucclecote defence into numerous periods of tackling. The pressure eventually told and Drybrook crossed for their first try which was converted (0-7). From the restart Hucclecote strated to have some periods of possession but good line speed and physicality by the Drybrook defence thwarted the attacks. Drybrook went back onto the offensive carrying with intent on numerous occasions and eventually crossing for their second try conversion was missed (0-12).
Hucclecote again stole possession and had their own period of pressure opting to move the ball

wide and eventually the pressure told and they scored in the corner conversion missed to make the score (5-12) with time running out in the first half Drybrook crossed for their third try which was converted making the H-T score 5pts to 19pts.

The second half got under way much the same as the first, Drybrook taking the game to Hucclecote but both sides made unforced errors which gave the game a spell of inconsistency. Focus back on Drybrook started to put pressure on the Hucclecote line and eventually crossed for the next try again converted making it (5-26) the game continued in much the same pattern with Drybrook crossing for two more tries one of which was converted making the final score 5pts to 38pts.

Overall a good performance from Drybrook with the scrummage giving the base to build on, forwards carrying well and defence from the back line thwarting numerous attacks.
