Déjà Vu for Drybrook

Camborne 28pts
Drybrook 20pts

Camborne just about controlled a feisty encounter at the Rec and probably came out deserved winners but once again Drybrook were left to rue several missed opportunities. The game itself was spoiled as a spectacle due to the persistent rain but thanks go to both sides for at least trying to play entertaining rugby.
Drybrook had first use of the slope and set into the home side with a ferocious onslaught but failed to capitalise especially when Drybrook failed to take two kickable penalties that if successful would have given Drybrook a 6-point advantage. As it was Camborne weathered the storm and took the lead with a long-range penalty from Mankee.
The home side started to assert some authority now through there forwards in the wet conditions and after a powerful drive to the line from a lineout, Stanleick was bundled over which Mankee converted. Stevenson got Drybrook on the scoreboard with a penalty soon after but from the resulting kick off and the visitors, trying to play out of defence lost the ball

.
and from the ensuing scrum a blindside move put winger Semmens over in the corner for a fine try. Drybrook to their credit went straight up the other end and Stevenson was on target again with a penalty to send the sides in at half time 15 v 6 to Camborne.

This young Drybrook side started the second half with everything to play for and set into the home side with some great passages of play with Renton at the fore but Mankee extended Camborne’s lead with another penalty to put his side 18 v 6 up. Drybrook now threw caution to the wind with some great running by Baldwin and some enterprising play by Robert

s was held up just short of line and with the whitewash at Drybrooks mercy and numbers to boot, Drybrook were awarded a penalty try after Camborne failed to let Drybrook use the ball.
Drybrook were right in the game now and were pushing for victory but once again some great power play by the Camborne forwards allowed Riches to drive over which Mankee converted for

a 28 v 13 advantage. Fair play to the visitors many a team would have rolled over, but Ben Larges boys kept playing and were rewarded with another try when some lovely interplay allowed Winfield to dive over after a chip through which was converted by Stevenson.
Alas drybrook couldn’t find anymore points as at least a bonus point would have been just deserts and although they tried valiantly to get a breakthrough the home defence held firm to take the spoils.
Drybrook will learn from this and need to start picking up points soon as although they are playing well and are holding there own the lack of not gaining any points from games is becoming a concern.

Drive on Dry!
