Monsoon like conditions fail to dampen Drybrook’s spirit

Drybrook Development Squad 14pts

Drybrook travelled over to Hereford for a Friday night fixture to be played in torrential rain.
Due to these conditions the game wasn’t going to be a free flowing spectacle. Agreement was made between the 2 captains and official to play 30 minutes each way as the pitch was starting to appear more like an aqua park.
From the kick off Drybrook received the ball and went straight on the attack with some noticeable carries from Mitch Hale and Ben Casey, taking Drybrook well into the Hereford half. Following a series of power plays from the Drybrook pack the ball was moved to Winger Will Revell who was initially held up in the contact only to see the forwards carry him over for the 1st try of the match on 5 minutes. Captain Andy Milner added the extras.

Drybrook had to wait a further 20 minutes before their next score, when impressive flanker Bailey Watts cut a line bursting through several tackles to score. Again Milner converted.
Drybrook had a couple more chances to score only to see the ball spilled in contact. On one such occasion, Billy Bowdler fielded a long clearance from Hereford and tore off into the Hereford defence, a superb line from Revell on halfway saw the winger close in on the Hereford try line only for the Hereford winger to make a great last ditch tackle and the ball was spilled.
Half time came with Drybrook leading.

5 minutes into the 2nd half, Drybrook emptied the bench and continued to press on for further scores only to be met by some staunch Hereford defence.
There were to be no further scores in the 2nd half as conditions deteriorated.

In the last 5 minutes Drybrook where camped on there own line with Hereford looking to get back into the game only to be met by some fierce Drybrook defence.
This was a very dogged, positive performance from a Drybrook side that bounced back from last weeks loss to league leaders Dings.
Next up for the Drybrook Development squad is another Friday night game in a league fixture to be played at Cinderford.
