Lydney United: 15pts
Drybrook Development: 45pts

Friday night saw the Drybrook Development squad, containing a mixture of old and new faces, kick off their first league game of the season under the lights at Lydney.
Drybrook started well with their forwards showing they were going to be a handful for Lyney, and within two minutes of the kick off Dean Jelf crashed over the line rollowing a driven line out.
As a side playing together for the first time Drybrook were guilty of several indescressions and Lydney joined them on the scoreboard with a penalty from 20 meters out after Drybrook were penalised for not releasing the player on the floor.
This was a minor setback for Drybrook who had shown complete dominance in the scrums from the start, shunting the Lydney pack backwards at every opportunity.
A second Drybrook try was not long arriving. With the ball being moved wide, great hands from Tom Smith led to Connor Hale racing in under the sticks. Andrew Milner added the extras to give Drybrook a lead of 12pts to 3pts.

.
Quick thinking by scrum half Gareth Holdsworth saw him next on the score sheet with a ‘tap and go’ penalty on the 20 metre mark. Andrew Milner once again converted.
Lydney players were now getting a little feisty and five minutes before half time poor discipline saw one of their players given a chance to ‘cool off’ for ten minutes courtesy of the referee’s yellow card.
With only a couple of minutes to the break Simon Rugman cut a great line from full back to score under the posts. Andrew Milner once more did the neccesary.
However the half was not over and a rare attack from Lydney on the 40th minute saw them exploit a gaping hole in the Drybrook defence to aquire 7pts and give themselves some hope going into the second period.

Half time: Lydney 10pts Drybrook 26pts

Lydney made a strong start to the second half and came out the blocks with renewed vigour looking to claw their way back into the game.
Early in the half, due to injuries, Lydney had to

drop to uncontested scrums. Always an anomaly, the effect of this was to negate Drybrook’s superiority in that set piece and was a distinct disadvantage to their dominant forwards.
After quarter of an hour of the second half, Lydney managed to close the deficit further with a straight forward penalty. But that was to be as good as it got for the Severnsiders as Drybrook dominated the closing period.
The last 20 minutes became one way traffic as Drybrook ran in a further 3 tries, 2 of which came from new winger Will Revill and 1 from Ashley Jennings.
