Drybrook 45pts
North Petherton 0pts

With the Ski Sunday boy’s back in the fold and Boon and Howells up front, Drybrook had too much power and ingenuity for a North Petherton side who were brushed aside at the Mannings.
It was vital that Drybrook picked up five points in this rearranged fixture after losing at Clevedon the week before.
They started the game in bullish fashion with Nott, Greenway and Tingle all carrying good ball forward to release quick possession to the backline.
Stevenson back at ten pinned the Petherton side in their own half with some astute kicking from hand and after fifteen minutes it was no surprise to see Peaper cross for the first score converted by Stevenson.
Drybrook were soon on the scoreboard again when the guile of Herbert coming into the line from fullback was too much for Petherton to handle and he easily outstripped the defence for another five pointer with Stevenson again adding the extras.
Seven minutes later Herbert was on hand again to finish off a good move involving Large and Price. Stevenson kicked the conversion and Drybrook were twenty one points clear and on the hunt for the bonus point try.
Drybrook then lost Tingle after he received a

knock to the head, thankfully this was never going to cause any more damage to his brain, but as a precaution he left the field to be replaced by Mullane. The rest of the team were now in with a chance of winning the Man of the Match award and it was not long before Stevenson threw his hat into the ring with a fine individual try which sealed the bonus point. He duly kicked the conversion and Drybrook eased into a twenty eight nil lead.
The two wino’s on the touchline Oscar and Taffy were having a wonderful day. Having seen the Vets victorious earlier against the Magnificent Seven from the Forest Combination, they were now witnessing a feast of running rugby as Drybrook put Petherton to the sword. Oscar told Taffy that if England beat Wales later he would treat him to a pack of Special Brew and a bag of chips.
It was fitting that Herbert completed his hat-trick when he used his pace to go round the outside following another good move out behind.

Half time arrived with Drybrook thirty three points to the good and with another forty minutes still to come a big score looked on the cards.
The second half however proved to be a start

stop affair with North Petherton doing their best to slow down the Drybrook possession. A number on injuries to the Petherton team also did nothing to help the flow of the game.
It took the Drybrook side quarter of an hour to unlock the visitors defence and it was Will Greenwood who crossed the whitewash capping a fine individual display on his return from the slopes. Stevenson having a fine day himself popped over the conversion and Drybrook extended the lead to forty points.
Mitch Baldwin won a foot race to score a further Drybrook try and the referee took pity on the opposition and blew the final whistle.
This was a good Drybrook display with some fine individual performances. Tim Stevenson had a very good game along with Greenway and Peaper, but the Man of the match was undoubtedly Charlie Herbert whose pace and running lines proved to be too much for the North Petherton team to handle.
Drybrook are at home again next week against Collumpton and will be hoping for another five point win to keep the pressure on Exeter who lead the division.
