Drybrook ladies travelled down to Newbury to play their second league game of the season. Both teams worked hard for the first ten minutes to hold out any score until Drybrook’s poor discipline lead to a penalty for handling in the ruck giving Newbury the first score to take the lead 3-0.
A further 15 minutes passed before an interception from Ellie underwood and a fifty meter dash saw Drybrook take the lead 3-7.
Drybrook seemed to struggle to get into the game with a few handling errors and other mistakes along the way.Newbury took advantage of Drybrook’s slow start and scored three quick tries in the last 10 minutes of the first half making the score 24-7 at half time.
Despite Drybrooks every attempt to get back into the game with a further two try’s from Skipper Ellie Underwood and one from power house Dorrie Morley it was a case of too little to late as the game came to a close at 39-28.
Players of the match went to Carly Whent for
her defending under pressure and Chanise Beard for her great work throughout the game securing ball and carrying well.
