Drybrook Ladies 2nds vs Dursley (away) October 9th 2016

Drybrook Ladies 2nds faced Dursley away for their second friendly of the season.
Drybrook won the toss and decided to play downhill away from the club house and received the kick off.
Dorrie Jaeger for Drybrook caught the ball at pace and crashed through four of the Dursley defenders before offloading to Becca Copper.
No score came for the first 10 minutes however, both sides being evenly matched and working hard in both attack and defence.
Great hands right through the back line to find Beth Powell storming from her full back position onto the right wing and her strong running gave Drybrook their first score.
Just three minutes later Drybrook created a mirror image of their first try on the left wing this time finding Lucy Meek who touched down to increase the score to 0 – 10.
On the 18th minute it was Drybrook again from a 15 meter driving maul and peel off with Dorrie crashing through to make the score 0 -15.
Despite Drybrooks comfortable lead Dursley managed to score two un-answered tries in the space of four minutes closing the gap to 10 – 15.
On the 27th minute Drybrooks hands across the
line were outstanding, this time loose head prop Becca Cooper drew the defender before making the long pass to Frankie Meadows who scored out wide. Dorrie converted to make the score 10 – 22.
Dursley was awarded a penalty 20 meters out from Drybrooks Line however the referee decided to give Dursley an extra ten meters because of an outburst from the Drybrook supporters.
Drybrook defended well then finally the last play of the first half resulted in a penalty try to Drybrook which was converted to see Drybrook leading 10 -29 at the break
The second half kicked off and within only five minutes Dursley crossed the Drybrook line twice converting one to get Dursley back in the game, making the score 22 – 29.
On the 44th minute Beth Lawrence who was now playing at 10 scored a beautiful try under the posts to increase Drybrooks lead 22 – 34.
Beth Powell scored her second try of the match on the 50th minute.
Dursley were not finished and they scored again five minutes later, with no conversion the score was 27 – 39.

With just twelve minutes to play Dursley was awarded a penalty on the half way because Drybrooks number 9 Jude Arslan was injured and the scrum could not take place within 30 seconds.
As both coaches were shouting to the ref there was an injury Dursley took a quick penalty running hard into a shocked Drybrook side causing injury to two of Drybrooks players.
Drybrook abandoned the game before any further injury to players was caused.

Forward of the match went to Dorrie Jaeger for her strong running and back of the match went to Judith Arslan who was relentless in defence.
