Drybrook 45pts

Drybrook put in a tremendous shift at Wells to come from behind and end up with a bonus point victory.
The victory was built on a fine all round team display with player coach Tim Stevenson back in the outside half berth for the first time this season enjoying a great game.
Drybrook started the match on the back foot, with Wells dominating the first ten minutes of play. Unable to retain possession Drybrook found themselves 8pts – nil down through a try
and penalty.
Stung into action Drybrook won a penalty and from the subsequent line-out, drove a maul towards the home goal line before Mitch Bourne broke away to score wide out. The ever
reliable Tom Treherne slotted the difficult kick closing the gap to one point.
Wells responded quickly and five minutes later broke through some weak tackling to score a converted try, increasing their lead to 13pts – 7pts.
Drybrook, by now, were getting a grip on the game and just before half time, a forward drive caught Wells offside and Treherne duly added the points.

Half Time:
Wells 13pts
Drybrook 10pts

The second half was all Drybrook, a 30 metre driving maul allowed the elusive Jack Combs to scamper through for a try again converted by Treherne.
Two minutes later the backs, now playing some exhibition rugby, combined to put Ben Large over for another try with Treherne converting.
Drybrook continued to press and with backs and forwards in tandem, once again crossed the Wells line with prop Mitch Hale grabbing the try and Stevenson adding the conversion.
Winning a constant supply of possession the forwards allowed the backs to express themselves and a subtle reverse pass from Stevenson put Mitch Baldwin in for another try which Stevenson improved.
As the game drew to a close, Drybrook, still in ascendancy, created another incisive move finished by impressive skipper Ben Large, Stevenson added the two points to complete a comprehensive victory.
Stevenson was outstanding at ten with some excellent breaks and superb distribution of the ball. Mitch Hale had a very solid game at prop and was rewarded with a try but it was difficult to pick a man of the match because the whole team contributed to a fine win.

The game started as an even affair with both sides cancelling out each other’s efforts. Drybrook were awarded a penalty and the subsequent kick at goal from Kieran Auker-Howlett was knocked off course by the strong breeze.
The game continued as a neutral affair with neither side gaining any real advantage until a break by veteran player Jimmy Ryder. He cut through the Hucclecote defence leaving several defenders in his wake to cross the line and break the deadlock.
Another penalty kick at goal for Drybrook saw Auker-Howlett extending their lead to 8pts – nil.
Huccclecote then started to gain a foothold and a long period of pressure resulted in their opening try.
It wasn’t long before Hucclecote mounted another successful attack where a second try gave them the lead.

Half time:

Drybrook Extras 8pts

The second half started much as the first had ended with Hucclecote continuing on the attack and Drybrook defending valiantly.
An altercation led to Drybrook flanker Dean Jelf receiving a yellow card and his Hucclecote opponent being given a straight red.
Even after the return of Jelf following his 10 minutes in the bin the extra man did not seem to give Drybrook any advantage and a combination of tired legs and some handling errors allowed Hucclecote back into the game stronger and run out comfortable victors.
