Drybrook Rugby Club

Drybrook Ladies were hosts for Weston Hornets on Sunday 17th January for the sides second meeting of the season.
Hornets who had beaten Drybrook to the top of the league last season on points difference were sure to give everything they had after already being defeated at home for the first game of the season.
Unfortunately due to many injury’s Hornets turned up short and loaned Frankie Meadows and Lorna Griffiths from Drybrook to even the sides out.
The pitch was holding up extremely well after a busy weekend of Rugby but although there was no rain the fog was thick which would cause problems both teams would have to deal with.
The first half was extremely tight indeed with the only score coming from Ellie Underwood on the 13th Minute through a breakaway try which she also converted.

The second half kicked off with Drybrook providing a high kick and great chase applying pressure to Hornets.
On the 41st minute Molly Teague crashed through to score the second try of the match for Drybrook with Ellie converting making the score 14 – 0 to the home side.
Just five minutes later returning from injury skipper Kat Brain saw a break in the defence to increase Drybrooks lead to 19 – 0.
On the 52nd minute Ellie Underwood crossed the line again with no conversion the lead was increased to 24 – 0.
Emma Gibson was the next to add her name to the list of try scorers and added the bonus point to Drybrooks victory with a further 2 try’s on the 60th and 67th minutes. With Ellie converting both to finalise the score at 38 – 0 to the home side, Drybrook kicked off the new year with a tremendous victory in South west One.
