With four regular players absent, Drybrook traveled to Weston for a first ever league encounter with some trepidation
Weston started the game in style, running the ball at every opportunity. Desperate defence from Drybrook kept them out but led to two penalties, duly converted by Weston who now led 6 – 0 after ten minutes.
The game continued with both sides attacking and counterattacking, Weston however, continued to put pressure on the away side. One such move broke down when Ben Large intercepted a pass and following a terrific break, the ball was recycled to Cooke who scored under the posts. Treherne added the two points and Drybrook now led 7 – 6 on the half hour.
From the restart, Weston immediately fought back and within two minutes, outflanked Drybrook regaining the lead 13 – 7. Weston then battered at the Drybrook defence which held firm until the half time whistle.

The second half began in somewhat scrappy fashion but, Weston soon gained control and driving down the field managed to score in the corner, increasing their lead to 18 – 7.
Drybrook refused to buckle and following a 5 mtr line-out, a catch and drive led to a Fisher try duly converted by Treherne. The Weston lead, now reduced to four points, allowed Drybrook supporters to hope for a losing bonus point.
The players, however, were not finished and with forwards and backs driving down field, play reached the Weston five metre line. In the dying seconds of the match Taft raced through a gap to score and with Terherne converting, Drybrook ran out winners 21 – 18.
