2 years unbeaten at home – a magnificent achievment

Its official – Drybrook 1st XV have now gone 2 years without losing a home game in any competition. This is a magnificent achievement by any standards and one has to go back to February 18th 2012 to find out when we last lost a home match. Perennial party poopers Wells were the victors on that occasion in a RFU Senior Vase encounter that saw Drybrook playing most of the match with only 14 men on the field. (Lee Ward red card if you are wondering why) It really is a case of congratulations all round to the coaching staff, the management and support staff and not least each and every one of the players.
A decision has yet to be made on the best way to celebrate this magnificent achievement though weather permitting Frazer has offered put on a display of Scottish dancing at half time in the next home match. Tims offer of a rendition of his Eisteddfod winning harp solo was politely declined by the committee.

Well done Ollie Clements

Stato has been busy this week and discovered a belated congratulations must go to Ollie Clements who actually passed the 100 point barrier with his succesful penalty against Matson a few weeks ago. Ollie now has 127pts to his name this season.

Remember Remember the 4th of November

This year will mark the 25th anniversary of Drybrook’s epic Pilkington Cup journey that ended with a narrow defeat at Old Deer Park, against London Welsh.
The committee are looking for ideas on how best to celebrate this day so anyone feeling inspirational is urged to get in touch with Pete Griffiths.

Drybrook Extras 40th Birthday

Another anniversary coming up is the 40th birthday of Drybrook’s 3rd team, the Extras in October 2014. They played their first match in October 1974 and it is a credit to all concerned that the team has kept going for so long when so many other local third teams have passed into history.
Again ideas for a celebratory event are required and perhaps even a name change? Extras does sound like the leftovers of a particularly difficult selection meeting and is rarely used by anyone.
