Drybrook secured the county cup title with this stunning victory over North Bristol. The visitors by their own admission had some selection problems, and had lost by only a single point margin to Dryrook 3 weeks ago, but this time the gulf was apparent from the offset.
Drybrook tore into their opponents from the first whistle and kept up the momentum throughout to give North Bristol a torrid time.
The first try came after only 3 minutes when a clearance kick failed to find touch and Ben Large gathered before setting up a counter attack and his inside pass sent Carl Moore scampering over.
Ollie Clements converted and a few minutes later he added the extras to another try following a break out of defence. Centre Dan Cox kicked ahead and a thrilling kick and chase ended with fullback Tom Treherne claiming the try.
Drybrook continued to attack at every available opportunity and Moore grabbed his second try when he nipped over from a maul after a powerful catch and drive left the visitor’s defence in disarray.
Winger Mitch Baldwin was then held up in the in goal area but some lovely switching and off loading enabled hooker Luke Fisher to score on the overlap.
The constant pressure began to take its toll on the visitors who lost a couple of players through injury and No 8 Mitch Renton was next to score when he dummied through a stretched defence for try number five.
Clements’ accurate boot left Drybrook in total control at the break.

Half Time:
Drybrook 31pts
North Bristol nil

Drybrook kept up the intensity at the start of the second half and despite heroic defence from the visitors a try had to come. This time it was deservedly finished off by winger Kristian Taft who had played a major part in several of Drybrook’s scores and Clements duly added the conversion.

North Bristol defended admirably for a long period but eventually the constant probing and support play brought a try for Luke Fisher who had by now moved into the centre.
Winger Mitch Baldwin then put in a tremendous break from broken play on half way and he managed to off load to Treherne who crossed in the corner.
A magnificent conversion from Clements brought up the fifty points but Drybrook were not finished and went on to score two more sparkling tries.
The first came when wave after wave of attacks led to prop Jun Sing Lee scoring on the overlap and the second came from Baldwin who raced in from 30 metres.
This was a very good display from Drybrook who were well served by a number of players, but man of the match went to winger Kristian Taft who was at the heart of a lot of their attacking play.
It was a very proud Luke Fisher, Drybrook’s stand in captain for the day, who received the winner’s plaque from county official Mike Heath.
