‘Soapy’ – A Man for All Seasons

Saturday 31st August 2013 was a landmark occasion for club vice-chairman Chris “Soapy” Rawlings who made his 600th Drybrook 1st XV appearance in the match at High Wycombe.

He has now made 731 senior appearnace for the club, scoring 142 tries whilst netting 1019 points. A quite remarkable achievement for the most loyal of club men – will we ever see his like again?

Chris (40) started at Drybrook as an under 7 and, despite his advancing years, he shows no sign of slowing up except for a thinning scalp!
Rawlings now has his sights set on Roger Hale’s all time club record of appearances (886)

It was typical of club secretary Alan Miles to gatecrash the photograph immediately after the match. Where is he heading with such a purposeful stride? – Frazer thinks there was some free beer left on the adjoining pitch.
