Drybrook Girls in National Success

On Saturday 27th May, Dene Magna year 7 and year 8 girls travelled to Staines RFC to take part in the U13’s Girls Rugby National Schools Final.
6 Drybrook RFC girls were in the Dene Magna school squad; Saska Bowdler, Paige Fletcher, Hollie Kibble, Megan English, Hannah Roberts and Katie Jeffrey.

Teams from across the country had previously battled it out in district and regional competitions to win a place at the finals.

In the morning Dene Magna girls played 5 games in the pool matches at Staines RFC, they won their pool and that put them in the final!

The final was played at Twickenham that afternoon – they played at half time of the Army V Navy game in front of 76,000 people. Dene Magna Girls played outstanding rugby against Coppleston High School from Suffolk, and they won by 2 tries to nil!

This was an amazing occasion and the girls were absolutely incredible – their rugby skills and attitude were fantastic and they deserve to be National Champions!

Well Done to Dene Magna Girls and the Drybrook RF Girls – we are all very proud of you – CHAMPIONS!
