Drybrook raced to their biggest victory of the season against an outgunned Southmead outfit who spent most of the game on the defensive.
An electric start from Drybrook saw play switched one way then the other and eventually second row Neil Morgan raced through a gap to touch down near the posts.
Southmead kicked a penalty on 9 minutes to relieve the pressure but Drybrook kept up the hectic pace and after a multi phased attack skipper Simon Rugman cantered over for a try.
A dropped pass on half way led to the next score when winger Sam Peaper hacked on and the ball bounced up nicely for him to race around under the posts.
It was one way traffic and No 8 Liam Jackson then scored after relentless pressure on the visitor’s line.
Southmead had no answer to Drybrook’s support play and next to score was fullback Tom Treherne who finished off a wonderful passage of play with a try near the posts.
With 25 minutes gone Drybrook raced into a 42pts – 3pts lead when winger Mitch Baldwin touched down in the corner with support all around him.
It was at this stage that Drybrook should have gone on to record a huge score but errors began to creep in and players became greedy in their pursuit of individual glory.
Half Time
Drybrook 42pts
Southmead 3pts
Southmead improved in the second half and denied the home team for 10 minutes and then Mitch Baldwin was yellow carded following an altercation with his opposite number.
Eventually Drybrook put together a length of the field handling move that led to Peaper going over in the corner.
Centre Rorie Day then raced through an overstretched defence for a try under the posts and this score was soon followed by a second try for Rugman.
Drybrook’ forwards then combined to create a try for prop Jun Sing Lee who was driven over from a rolling maul and the last score led to Peaper getting his hat trick score with the last play of the game.
Drybrook’s man of the match Tom Treherne gave an almost faultless display of kicking by conveting 10 of the 11 tries, several of them from difficult angles.
