Mini Junior Round-up 29/10/2017

Drybrook U7s
Drybrook entertained Hucclecote Rfc this weekend, with great numbers from both sides we were able to run two games consecutively. There was some great play from these little stars of the future from both teams, with wonderful attacking opportunities and defending. In the few weeks the team has been together and with some new faces that have just joined the side all of the players were playing with smiles on their faces and everybody getting chances to run with the ball. Some great tries were also scored with the players actually moving the ball across their line creating space before getting tagged. Defensivley a special mention must go to Ted who was like a little tagging machine running all over the pitch to tag players. All in all a great performance from each and every player and they should be extremely proud of the progress they have made in such a short space of time.

Drybrook U8s
Drybrook RFC U8 had a fabulous game against a well presented and drilled Hucclecote. Drybrook played with passion and heart despite succuming to some early tries. Some inspirational coaching from Shane and encouragement from Leon and all the parents helped the team re-focus and put them back on the right tracks which resulted in tries for Oli M, Harley, Oliver O, Reuben, Arthur and Billy, but they were only made possible due to the support play from the other team members, Bonnie, Finlay, Sam and Fin. Support play, handling and finding space were the key take-aways from today. A great performance from the team who individually continue to develop their own games, but at the same time continue to add value to the team each week.

Liam Bevan and Harry Ryder with their green laces.

Drybrook U9s
Drybrook Under 9’s played a very good Hucclecote outfit with both teams contributing to a very entertaining game of rugby with there go forward straight running lines. The home side were a little bit guilty of running into players and not the space but this didn’t detract from a much improved performance. At the forefront of this were Liam Bevan and Harry Ryder who continually probed and broke the Hucclecote defences earning there green laces in the process. These young players are on the rise and get better each week. Onwards and upwards Drybrook, Yes!

Drybrook U12s
Drybrook under 12’s hosted Hucclecote in what turned out to be a very entertaining game of rugby with a tense finish. The visitors finally won the game 25-20. The Drybrook boys dominated most of the game until the last 4 minutes when Hucclecote played some smart rugby and scored 3 late tries. Try scorers were Kyran Meek (2), Ryan Edwards and Harry Knight. Player of the match was Finley Rawlings who put in several big tackles.
