Forest of Dean and District Combination Junior Cup Quarter Final

BerryHill United nil
Drybrook United 45pts

Played under the Lakers Road floodlights, Drybrook United eased into a semi-final clash with Ross 1st XV after taking the home side apart.
Drybrook were forced to make several changes to their normal line up due to absence and call ups to the 1st XV squad but nevertheless they were still too strong for BerryHill.
Playing against the stiff breeze Drybrook made all the early running and after going close several times a try eventually came for winger Kane Hale who squeezed in at the corner.
A magnificent conversion from skipper Andy Milner increased the lead but his side had to wait another 15 minutes for the next score.
This time more pressing near the home line brought a penalty in front of the sticks which Milner comfortably put over.
Nearly all of the enterprising play came from

Drybrook with BerryHill content to use the wind to relieve pressure on a number of occasions.
Just before the break Drybrook deservedly got another try when centre Connor Hale was put in on the overlap and Milner added the extras.

Drybrook made hard work of it in the second half with too many players trying to go it alone as white line fever began to take hold.
They did however manage four more converted tries the first of which came from busy scrum half Gareth Holdsworth after he was put into the gap by Marcus Cowles.
The next try was a fine individual effort from back row man Len Mullhane who just held on to a bad pass on half way before accelerating past several defenders on his way to the line.

Play became very scrappy after this but Holdworth broke free to score his second try which was followed just before the end by a try from Jack Whiting after a strong run through the heart of the Hill defence.
All of the second half tries were scored near the posts which made them a formality for Milner to convert.
BerryHill United frustrated Drybrook for long periods with some hearty defence but in the end they were undone by a more skilful, fitter and organised team.
