GRFU DEVELOPMENT CENTRES FOR GIRLS

GRFU is happy to announce the launch of our Development Centres for Girls, as per our ongoing strategy for supporting our clubs in the recruitment & retention of players.

This is a Development Programme and not a performance programme and open to all U13, U15 & U18 girls of any ability.

Alongside a dedicated coaching team from the GRFU, the sessions will be supported by guest coaches (to be announced). Coaches from the host clubs will also be involved in the delivery, thus supporting the continuing development of our coaches and coaching.

The curriculum has been very kindly drawn up by Gloucester Rugby Academy and will focus on the following:

Developing Core Skills … catch pass, tackle technique, collision breakdown, game sense
Developing Fundamental Movement Patterns…global movements, work capacity
Developing Behaviours… Creativity, Awareness, Resilience, Distraction Control, Self-Organisation
Underpinned by the Principles of Play…Decision Making

Drybrook RFC will launch these Centres on Friday 24th February. Registration will be at 6:30pm with a 7pm Start. Then again, every Friday until 17th March inclusively.

The Centre will then move onto Bristol Telephone Areas RFC (timings and day to follow).

We hope you can attend these sessions as it gives the girls an opportunity to train in greater numbers. It will enable them to make new friends & enjoy learning in a (proven) curriculum based environment. For further info please feel free to contact our Centres Manager:
