Drybrook victorious in Combination Cup Final

DRYBROOK 47pts NEWENT5pts

On Sunday 9th December Drybrooks Under 12’s squad travelled to Westbury-on-Severn for the Combination Cup final.

The Newent side looked keen and showed their intent from the off as Joe Baldwin stormed straight through the Drybrook defence to score the first try of the game.

This was the wake-up call Drybrook needed and after weeks of training everything seemed to fall in place. After some superb rucking from the Drybrook forwards the ball was shipped out to Jay Fellows who flew up the pitch to touch down Drybrook’s first of many tries.

By half time Fellows had added another two tries to the scoreboard and with his natural flare and pace Marley added another 5 points. All were converted with ease by Brad Morgan.

As the second half begun Leon and Charlie started to stretch their legs and it was clear that although Newent were playing with grit and determination they would struggle to close the gap, and following further tries from Will, Brad and Jay it was no surprise scoring when the referee decided to call it a day.

What a great start for the newly formed under 12’s. Well done to all involved!
