Colts dominate local derby – Sunday 6th November 2016

Gloucestershire Development League

Drybrook Colts 43pts
Lydney Colts nil

It was evident on Sunday that winter had finally begun. Following the morning frost the sun shone over the Mannings warming the pitch for Forest derby colts league game.
Lydney kicked off the game and with some quick passing the ball soon landed in Will Baldwin’s hands, whom with his speed and agility, made a dash for the try line starting Drybrook scoring for the day.
Lydney’s forward players showed great strength in the breakdowns and worked hard to secure their ball at all times. However it was clear before the end of the first half that Drybrooks quick ball handling and pace would dominate the rest of the match.
Further tries from Will and some fancy footwork from Bret Thomas saw a close to the

first half leaving little return for Lydney in the second.
The second half saw building friction between the two sets of forwards which led to a more intense second half but with some strong carries Drybrook were over the try line once more.
As the second half progressed Lydney started looking tired and after two further tries and building rivalry the referee made the wise decision to end the game early.
