Drybrook 50pts

Winger Mitch Baldwin inspired Drybrook to a bonus point victory at basement outfit Chard with a hat trick of tries as well having as a hand in several others.
Chard made Drybrook work hard for all of their scores and the match was not as one sided as the final score would indicate.
Both sides had opportunities in the opening 15 minutes but Drybrook finally broke through when Baldwin put centre Harry Howard over near the posts and Treherne converted.
A strong run from winger Rhys Gardener took play back into Chard territory and a few minutes later Treherne put over a penalty to increase the lead.
On the 25 minute mark some lovely hands from the Drybrook backs gave Baldwin the room to outstrip the cover defence and the winger opened his account with a try in the corner.
Drybrook had a lot of defending to do at the end of the first half and lost No 8 Mitch Bourne to a yellow card after a string of penalty offences.

Drybrook 15pts

There was not much to say about the opening 15 minutes of the second half but the game suddenly sprang to life when Jack Combes put Baldwin in the clear with a perfectly timed pass and the winger cut a great angle to score under the posts.
Treherne converted and was soon called on to add the extras to another try when Baldwin made another break before off loading to supporting skipper Ben Large for the try.
Jack Combes, who was playing in the unaccustomed position of outside half, showed some lovely distribution skills to keep Drybrook on the front foot and a clever switch in mid field led to Harry Howard scampering over for his second try.
Treherne added the conversion but then Drybrook had to work hard to keep Chard out for a period until a clearance kick bounced kindly for scrum half Ben George to run in under the sticks.
Rhys Gardener converted the try and then found himself instrumental in the last try when he put a kick behind the Chard defence and Baldwin gathered the awkwardly bouncing ball before diving over for his hat-trick score.
Gardener added the extras to bring up the 50 points for Drybrook.
This was a very good all round performance from Drybrook with the backs in particular looking sharp and thriving on the front foot ball.

Winger Mitch Baldwin is enjoying a fine run of form and deservedly took the man of the match award.

Hardwick and Quedgeley Harlequins 22pts

Drybrooks Extras played Hardwick and Quedgeley Harlequins for the first of three home league games.
Drybrook received the kickoff playing towards the club house.
The ball was secured well by Drybrooks Greg Collins and with a big hit Drybrook started with the attack.
With control and structure Drybrook set up there phases of play before releasing the ball to the backs.
Within moments captain James Ryder scored the first try under the posts for Drybrook also adding the extras.
From the restart once again Drybrook gathered the high ball to start playing a very controlled game of rugby.
Without a shadow of a doubt Drybrook were clearly the more structured of the two sides.
Quins defended well but on the 22nd minute Kane hale crossed the line to touch down yet again under the posts with James Ryder adding the extras.
The try come from great hands across the back line and a great crash ball from Jack Davies before offloading to Kane 5 meters out from the line.
Drybrook were displaying some of the best rugby they have played yet this season.
With just 12 minutes left of the first half Greg Collins crashed over the Quins line and James Ryder once again added the conversion which took Drybrook into half time 21- 0.

The second half kicked off and within 2 minutes the ball traveled once again across the back line only this time Kane Hale looped around from his own wing to carry hard and score in the corner with close attention from Quins defence.
Drybrook seemed to step off the gas allowing Quins to score 4 tries and close the gap to 26-22.
Quins looked dangerous for the final moments of play but from a scrum James Ryder kicked the ball into touch to end the game.

Back of the match went to Jimmy Smith and Forward of the match went to Craig Lancett.
