Drybrook 15pts

A very undisciplined performance created more problems for Drybrook as they came unstuck on a beautiful day in South Devon.
A huge penalty count against them plus 2 yellow cards proved too difficult to overcome and with the pack not producing a good enough platform it made for a long and frustrating afternoon.
The first 10 minutes were very even as both sides sounded each other out but Drybrook folded under the first bit of pressure close to their line when a quick tap penalty led to an overlap try in the corner.
Teignmouth knocked on from the re-start but the referee allowed advantage and this enabled Drybrook to spread the ball wide where a long miss pass sent winger Ollie Moore scampering over for a try in the corner.
Tom Treherne’s conversion put Drybrook in front but from then on a series of penalty awards shifted the momentum Teignmouth’s way.
A penalty kick to the corner led to a catch and drive try after 18 minutes and ten minutes later continued pressure brought a penalty try for the home side following another driving maul.
With the half drawing to a close a great break from Drybrook’s Jamie Cook should have led to a score but he lacked support and then a long range Treherne penalty just dipped under the bar.
A strong finish to the half finally brought its reward when Treherne put over a penalty in front of the sticks and Teignmouth lost a man to the bin as they tried to keep Drybrook out.

Drybrook 10pts

A bad error gifted Teignmouth another try early in he second half when Drybrook tried to play themselves out of defence. Eventually a poor clearance kick gave possession back and the home side cruised in at the corner.
Drybrook’s Danny Price was then yellow carded for persistent infringements and back chatting to the referee which did little to help his team’s cause.
Drybrook held out but posed very little threat to the home side who were able to very easily absorb any threat.
With 25 minutes gone Drybrook replacement Mitch Renton was yellow carded and Teignmouth kicked the resulting penalty to edge even further in front.
Drybrook seemed very low on confidence at this stage and could not make any headway as they were constantly penalized and on several occasions were marched back a further 10 metres as frustration began to creep in.
Finally a chink of light appeared for Dybrook when skipper Ben Large carved an opening for a good individual try and with 10 minutes left there was still time to turn it around.
Drybrook enjoyed a good spell of pressure towards the end but their discipline problem again let them down every time they got in sight of the home line.

The 2nd XV returned from Lydney with a hard thought victory to maintain their 100% winning start to the season.
Drybrook started the better playing down the slope, putting together some good phase play but a knock on in midfield led to Lydney taking play into the Drybrook 22.
Following some desperate defence by Drybrook, they managed to hold up the Lydney attack resulting in a 5 metre scrum.
From the resulting scrum a misplaced pass from scrum half Tony Hussey resulted in Lydney fly half Jack Sterry stretching over for a try.
Drybrook were once again applying pressure to the Lydney defence, a well executed chip & chase from Kane Hale resulted in a try with captain Andy Milner knocking over the conversion.
The rest of the half became a bit of an arm wrestle with neither side able to make to many inroads into the defence.

The second half became a stagnant affair with several injuries stopping play.
Drybrook managed to pull away with a try from man of the match Nik Wakeman, Drybrook managed to get back into playing phases & Marcus Cowles created space for his second row partner Wakeman to touch down, once again Milner added the extras
Into the final 5 minutes Lydney tried to get back into the game but were met with some great defence, with Connor Hale, Jack Freeman & Lennie Mullane to the fore.
