Drybrook 13pts

Drybrook came unstuck on their visit to a wet and windy Recreation Ground in Camborne where the league leaders cruised to victory in the testing conditions.
It was Drybrook’s inability to deal with the home team’s strong driving maul that cost them dearly with the home team scoring four catch and drive tries.
Camborne had all the early pressure with the wind at their backs but Drybrook remained strong and eventually moved down field.
There was no scoring for 20 minutes but the home side then forced a line out in the corner and bundled over for the opening try.
A good passage of play in which Sam Peaper and Joe Tingle were prominent took play up to the home 22 metre area and Tom Treherne kicked a penalty to reduce the deficit.
A yellow card reduced the home side to 14 men but Drybrook could not take advantage and just before the break they conceded a soft try.
Camborne exploited a poor kick up field to run in a try in the corner to complete the first half scoring.

Drybrook 3pts

Camborne did not get out of their own half for the first 20 minutes as Drybrook battered away with little reward against a resolute defence.
Camborne suffered a second yellow card as they struggled to keep Drybrook’s out and Treherne’s resulting penalty was all they managed for their efforts.
As soon as Camborne made it down field their large pack drove over for another try and with the conditions deteriorating things became difficult for Drybrook.
Mitch Renton was then yellow carded and it was not long before home second row Cook grabbed his try hat trick with another catch and drive try.
Drybrook rallied for a while and scored a try when centre Robbie Faulkner spotted a gap to race in under the sticks to make the conversion easy for Treherne.
With the game drawing to a close Drybrook were looking to close the gap but they conceded a penalty and Camborne inevitably kicked to the corner to set up another drive.
The almost inevitable conclusion was another catch and drive score which gave a somewhat misleading score line to an otherwise hard fought game.

Saturday 5th March saw Drybrook 3s take on Evesham in the second test of three games.
Having lost the first match on home turf two weeks earlier Drybrook were keen to show the away side what they were made of and to get back to winning ways.
Drybrook received the kick off playing away from the club house.
Just 10 minutes in Joe Watts crossed the line to put the first points on the board for Drybrook. Jimmy Ryder converted to make the score 7 – 0.
Shortly after Evesham answered back with a converted try under the posts exploiting a few missed tackles to bring the score to 7 – 7.
Both sides were working hard around the field and Evesham had some very strong ball carriers which Drybrook made hard work of putting down
However the hard work paid off on the 30th minute when Sam Grant scored from great hands across the backs with Jimmy converting.

Half time:
Drybrook Extras 14pts
Evesham 3rds 7pts

The second half kicked off and Drybrook chased hard and applied pressure.
No further score came until 60th minute when great pressure off a scrum lead to a loose ball on the Evesham try line which Tony Hussey touched down to increase the Drybrook lead to 19 – 7.
Evesham refused to give up and kept running hard lines at the Drybrook defence. With only five minutes left on the clock a penalty was awarded to Evesham five meters out from the Drybrook try line.
Evesham carried over the line but were held up. From the resulting scrum Evesham once again were held up but this time were awarded penalty.
After several attempts Evesham eventually crossed the line in the final play of the match.
