In terms of quality, Drybrook had more firepower in their three-quarter line up evidenced with six of the eight tries, but it was the forwards who provided a good supply of quality ball for them to use. Cheltenham managed two tries and a conversion of their own.
At the beginning of the first half Cheltenham pressed the Drybrook line but stout Drybrook defence gave scrum half Jack Worgan the chance to clear the line with a good kick to touch.
Five minutes in, tenacious work from Aiden Haynes saw him scavenge loose ball and run in from 10 metres to score Drybrooks first try. Rohan Parry converted. Twenty-five minutes in and after heavy pressure from Drybrook, the Cheltenham defence was drawn to a ruck leaving spaces wider out. Jay Fellows took advantage of the gaps, to gallop in unopposed for Drybrooks second try. The score at half-time remained 12 points to nil.
The game opened up in the second half, and first on the score card was prop Louis Jayne who found himself on the end of a pass in the outside centre position. Jayne crashed through two tackles to score wide out, Parry again converted. Next to score was replacement right winger Lewis Handley, Brad Morgan converted. Replacements and substitutions by Drybrook disrupted them somewhat and Cheltenham scored their first try.
Parry scored the next Drybrook try followed by Harrison Peates – a conversion was kicked by Worgan. Cheltenham scored a second try – a kick and chase touchdown followed up with the conversion. Handley then scored his second try and finally Brad Morgan ran in from half way, with Parry converting one.
