Drybrook U15 vs St Brendans U15 (away) County Cup

After a defeat to Cleve the previous week, Drybrook Under 15s bounced back to win a Gloucestershire County Cup round against St Brendans RFC of Bristol by 10 points to 5. Played away and in heavy conditions, Drybrook dominated territory and the forward encounters and although the score looks close, they were worthy winners.

The start of the match was all Drybrook, who spent most of the time in the St Brendans 22 metre area. St Brendans defended well but the forward pressure exerted by Drybrook eventually told. After ten minutes, the St Brendans defences were drawn to a

ruck which allowed movement of the ball quickly into the spaces on the left. Good handling allowed young winger Lewis Handley to cross the line for a fine try in the corner. The try went unconverted.

The second half was more evenly contested, but good early pressure from Drybrook saw them score relatively early in the half. Again from the breakdown, quick ball from the forwards allowed scrum half Jack Worgan to move right and pop a short pass to centre Jay Fellows who crashed through from 5 metres. Again the try went unconverted.

Late on near the end of the game St Brendans scored a consolation try wide on the right. The final score 10 points to 5 in Drybrooks favour.
