Avonmouth Old Boys 11pts

Two tries and a man of the match performance from flanker Danny Price inspired Drybrook to a bonus point victory over visiting Avonmouth.
A fierce cross wind made constructive rugby difficult but nevertheless both teams contributed to a very entertaining game.
Avonmouth opened the scoring with a penalty after 10 minutes and were just off target with a second shot at goal a few minutes later.
It took Drybrook a while to get into the game and they almost broke through when debutant centre Robbie Falkner broke clear but he was called back for a forward pass.
The home side finally opened their account after 30 minutes when Price finished off a slick handling move with a try under the posts and Tom Treherne added the conversion.
Drybrook were on top at this stage and went close again when Faulkner and flanker Mitch Bourne combined in a 40 metre attack before the move was halted.
Avonmouth then applied some pressure near the end of the half and added a penalty to close the gap to one point.

Half Time:
Drybrook 7pts
Avonmouth Old Boys 6pts

Drybrook started the second half well and extended their lead when they pressurised an Avonmouth 5 metre scrum. The visitors set up a ruck to clear the ball but it went loose and Price was quickest to react and nipped in for his second try.
Treherne converted and the home side continued to dominate but it was 20 minutes before they scored again.
A tremendous break from Ben Large created the space for the supporting Faulkner to race in under the sticks and Treherne again added the extras.
Following this score Avonmouth had their best spell of the game and kept Drybrook penned near their own line for 15 minutes.
Drybrook defended really well to keep them out but eventually a string of penalties led to an overlap and a try was scored in the corner.
With only a few minutes left Drybrook hit back following a strong surge from prop Dean Large. Some good support play then led to No 8 Mitch Renton capping a fine individual performance by crossing for the bonus point try.
Treherne’s successful conversion was followed by the final whistle.
This was a much improved performance by Drybrook in which several players impressed including Mitch Baldwin, Will Greenway and Faulkner who looks a valuable addition to the squad.
