Drybrook 31pts
Wells 0pts

Drybrook kept in touch with the league front runners with this bonus point victory over visiting Wells.
The conditions were wet and cold but Drybrook soon warmed the crowd up with a big driving maul that the visitors did well to keep out.
Drybrook then made a mess of a line out in the corner but they were able to maintain field position to keep the pressure on Wells.
The first try came 12 minutes in when wave after wave of attacks finally led to an opening for skipper Ben Large who powered through the gap.
Tom Treherne converted and Drybrook remained firmly in control though it took another ten minutes to break through again.
This time some beautiful handling and support play cut a hole through the heart of the Well’s defence and centre Jamie Cook scored under the posts.
Treherne converted and quickly added a penalty to extend Drybrook’s lead and with half time approaching the home side scored again.
Winger Sam Peaper received the ball in a crowd of players but showed great strength to force his way over in the corner.
Treherne’s successful conversion gave Drybrook a very healthy lead at the break.

Half Time:
Drybrook 24pts
Wells nil

Drybrook did not perform nearly so well in the second half partly because the visitors upped their performance but more so because of an increasing amount of errors that crept into their game.
It looked like neither side was going to trouble the score board operator until the final minutes when the game suddenly burst into life.
A long Wells clearance kick was gathered by Ben Large deep inside his own half. He set off on an electrifying run that was only halted just short of the try line.
In the scramble that followed Drybrook were awarded a penalty that they attempted to take quickly but they were smothered by the defence, including several who were in an offside position.
The referee had no hesitation in awarding a penalty try, easily converted by Treherne, to bring the game to a close.
There were a number of good individual performances from Drybrook with props Alex Gibson and Mitch Renton always in the thick of the action.
Tom Treherne’s goal kicking gets better week on week but man of the match went to skipper Ben Large who led by example all afternoon.

Drybrook United were unfortunate to have a second home game on the trot called off by the opposition. This week it was the turn of the United Bristol Hospital XV who pulled out of this Gloucestershire Reserve Premier League Fixture through a lack of numbers.

Drybrook Extras XV also had their match at Quedgeley & Hardwicke Harlequins called off, this time in even more bizarre circumstances. Apparently the only key holder to the council owned changing rooms was away for the weekend and no one else could gain access. The offer of reversing the match to Drybrook’s ground was declined because of a lack of available drivers.
