Extras vs Hardwick & Quedgeley Harlequins – 31st October 2015

Hardwick & Quedgeley Harlequins 31pts
Drybrook Extras 57pts

Drybrook 3rds travelled up to Quedgeley to play their first ever fixture against Hardwick & Quedgeley Harlequins. Drybrook had won the past two games convincingly and were confident going into the match.
Quins were short by three players so Drybrook players Rhys Evans, Kieran Auker- Howlett and Tim Baldwin joined their ranks.
Without a referee, Drybrook’s Chris Tingle stepped up and volunteered and both teams benefitted from having such an experienced and knowledgeable official.
Quins kicked off and Drybrook secured the ball and started to work forward through multiple phases. Drybrook looked very strong

and began to dominate. Jack Davies was the first to cross for Drybrook and the successful conversion put his team 7pts – nil ahead.
Whenever Drybrook crossed the white wash, Quins would respond by breaking the Drybrook defensive line to even the scores.

By the interval Quins had edged ahead by 31pts to 26pts with two of their tries coming from Drybrook’s loaned players.
Dan Lewis (2) and Aaron Ryder (1) scored the other Drybrook first half tries.
Drybrook kicked off the second half with a completely changed side and attitude and began to secure everything at the breakdowns.
Quins faced an uphill task with Drybrook moving up a gear and tries came at regular intervals.

Ryder and Lewis completed try hat tricks and others came from Mitch Browning and Jack Freeman.
A big tackle from Ben Warren led to him being taken to hospital and the game ended early as a result.

Men of the match for Drybrook were Richard Roberts and Jimmy Ryder.
