Old Centralians “A” 69pts

Drybrook United 0pts

Drybrook’s 2nd string came up against an unusually strong Old Centralians outfit at Saintbridge Sports ground and struggled against the pace of their attack.
Drybrook also found in difficult to come to terms with some of the refereeing decisions during the game and they suffered 4 yellow and one red card.
This unusual state of affairs meant they seldom had 15 men on the park and for periods were down to 13 men and consequently were outplayed by the home side.

Drybrook United XV; Andy Milner (capt), Luke Roberts, Rhys Evans, Nick Lewis, Max Watkins, Kieran Auker-Howlett, Tony Hussey, Craig Boughton, Huw Rimmer, Anthony Suter, Joe James, Alex Smailes, Connor Hale, Jack Whiting, Ben Warren.

Drybrook Extras 57pts

Drybrook Extras XV enjoyed a comfortable victory at neighbouring Westbury in ideal conditions for running rugby.
Drybrook started off extremely well and quick hands led to an Aaron Ryder try under the posts converted by his uncle Jimmy.
Minutes later centre Billy Bowdler was put clear and his pace was too much for the Westbury cover defence.
The next try came from a period of forward domination and prop Dean Large flopped over for a try that Aaron Ryder converted.
Steve Wood then opened the Westbury account with a penalty and minutes later Bowdler was denied a second try after a long run to the line. He made amends though by crossing just after for his second score.
Just afterwards Drybrook caught Westbury napping with a quick 22 metre drop out which some
how found its way into the hands of Nick Wakeman. The tall winger made it to half way and then seemed to lose his balance but he kept going and just made it to the touch down.
Westbury then hit back with a long period of pressure spearheaded by former Drybrook favourite Dave Williams.
Another former Drybrook man Neil Lewis was held up in the in goal area but Westbry remained patient and scored a good try through centre Hifi and Wood’s successful conversion brought the first half scoring to a lose.

Half Time:

It was much closer in the 2nd half with Williams driving his forwards on to keep pressure on the Drybrook defence.
Eventually Drybrook broke down field and Large got his second try in similar circumstances to his first with Ryder adding the extras.
Next came the best try of the game when some great hands by Drybrook led to winger Adam Harris going over in the corner and Ryder converted with a good strike.
Towards the end Westbury began to tire and Mitch Browning looked to have scored a try following a long run but was denied by an unsighted referee.
A minute later though Browning got his reward when he crossed from a quick tap penalty and Ryder’s conversion brought up the 50pts for Drybrook.
At the death scrum half Tom Treherne cantered over for a try which he converted himself drop goal style from in front of the sticks.
This was a much improved performance from Drybrook with Billy Bowdler and Connor Parry running Jack Davies close for the man of the match award.
For Westbury it was old warhorse Dave Williams who again took their man of the match accolade.
