Drybrook U15s vs Painswick U15s 27th September 2015

Drybrook U15s 29pts
Painswick U15s 12pts

Drybrook under 15s started their 2015/16 season campaign with a 29 points to 12 win against plucky Painswick. Man of the match for Drybrook was Caleb Lloyd who was strong throughout and scored two tries.

The first half was relatively quiet compare to the second half with both sides testing one anothers resolve with long periods of ‘sparring’ mid-field. Fifteen minute in, the deadlock was broken when from loose play Drybrook made a foray into the Painswick twenty-two metre area. A Drybrook scrum was awarded and number 8, Caleb Lloyd picked up and broke right from the back of the scrum to score in the corner. Some ten minutes later Painswick replied with a score by their winger, after the number 8 made good ground following a hook against the head at scrum time.

At the break the score was 5 points to 5 and Drybrook made use of their replacements making five changes.

Five minutes into the second half a poorly controlled scrum from Painswick saw the Drybrook back row and centre pairing pounce on the retreating defenders to force them deep in to their own twenty two area. Pressure from Drybrook at line out resulted in second row Harrison Peates gather the ball and race through a gap to score under the posts. The conversion was made by Rohan Parry. Two minutes later Drybrook centre Jay Fellows made a break from his own half to race sixty metres to score under the posts – a trail of Painswick defenders left in his wake. Again Parry converted.

Mid way through the second half Drybrook scored two further tries. The fourth was probably the best ‘team try’ of the game with all of the Drybrook backs handling. Winger Tom Pollack was the final recipient and he touched down in the right hand corner. Try number five was a well worked line out move, straight off the training paddock. A three man line was called with number 8 Caleb Lloyd standing at scrum half. The lineout ball was caught by Jarred Field who popped a quick pass to Lloyd who crashed through the middle to score.

Late on Painswick scored a converted consolation try on the back of some Drybrook indiscipline.
