It was a very windy day as Drybrook ladies travelled to Yeovil for their last league match of the of the Season.
Drybrook were looking to move to the top of the table, with current leaders Hornets still to play their final fixture against Gordano next month.
Drybrook were out to give it their all and were determined to bring home the away win.
It was against Yeovil that Drybrook played their first game of the season and the score was tight at 15 – 12 to Drybrook on home turf so everyone knew they had a hard fixture ahead.
Drybrook lost the toss and Yeovil opted to play against the wind first half so the game started with a Drybrook Kick off.
With immediate pressure from Drybrook, Yeovil spilled the ball and within 4 minutes scrum half Kat Brain managed to work wide to score the first try for Drybrook.
Yeovil were not prepared to take this lying down and upped their game to take it back to Drybrook.
Drybrook worked hard to turn the ball over but found themselves getting marched back for putting their hands into the ruck.

Drybrook started to work phase after phase before releasing the ball out to the backs and quick hands lead to an outstanding try on the left wing by Nikki Hancock. Drybrook were now demonstrating some outstanding skills and were looking in control. However after many attempts to break the Yeovil line Drybrook were unsuccessful until the 21st minute when Jess Hunt Drybrook’s No 10 broke through to add a further score to the board.
With a conversion from Ellie Underwood the score was now 17 – 0 to Drybrook.
No more than 2 minutes later Ellie Underwood scored her first try of the match and converted to make the score 24 – 0 with 10 minutes to go until half time.

With Drybrook defending their own line it was a relief when Yeovil ran the ball into touch to end the first half.
Drybrook knew that the second half was going to be hard playing against a very strong wind.

Yeovil kicked off to start the second half; Drybrook caught the ball and secured it very well and within the first minute of the second half Drybrook’s Jess Hunt managed to break the line yet again and touch down under the post and with Ellie converting, the second half couldn’t have started any better.
With the early second half score making the lead 31 – 0 Drybrook were hoping to grind down a very tired and disheartened Yeovil team, however from the restart Yeovil applied pressure upfront and kept the ball in hand, a series of mistakes from Drybrook and high tackles lead to Yeovil in a very strong position challenging to cross the Drybrook’s try line.
