Drybrook u18 girls vs Waterloo u18 girls – Thursday March 12th 2015

On Thursday night Drybrook u18 Girls welcomed Waterloo U18 girls, a Canadian touring, team to The Mannings. This was the Canadian teams first match of the 4 scheduled games on their tour.
The 19 strong Canadian squad looked impressive in the warm up, but Drybrook girls were determined to get a win after the weekends SW cup defeat to Exeter.
The game turned out to be very evenly matched and hard fought, with both teams putting on a great display of rugby for the many spectators.
Drybrook’s Jade Kibble opened the score with a
brilliant try. Good support play, and set pieces continued from both sides, but a powerful try by Drybrook prop ‘Bulldozer’ Brittany Morgan, gave Drybrook their second try. Maizie Morgan slotted the ball through the posts for the conversion.
Waterloo girls continued battling and were rewarded with a much deserved try, taking the score to 12-5.
The pace and pressure continued by both sides, but a try by no.8 Robyn Hancock sealed the victory for the home team. The final score Drybrook u18 girls 17 – Waterloo u18 girls 5.
Drybrooks Girls of the game was awarded to Molly Teague and Brittany Morgan.
In the clubhouse presentations were made followed by rousing renditions of god save the queen and the Canada national anthem, and a bit of Amy Winehouse too!!
Waterloo Girls and their coaches were true ambassadors for their high school and their country and Drybrook wish them all the best for the rest of the tour.
