Drybrook leapfrogged Frampton at the top of the table following this excellent victory over a tenacious visiting outfit.
It was only in the latter stages that Drybrook were able to pull clear and they did so in style with some of their best rugby of the season so far.
Stand off Ben Large put Drybrook into the lead after 14 minutes with a well struck drop goal and a couple of minutes later they grabbed their first try.
Scrum half Carl Moore made a telling break on half way and floated a perfect inside pass to supporting flanker Dan Price who touched down.
The visitors came back strongly and after a prolonged period of pressure they got themselves back in it with a neat try down the blind side of a scrum.
The rest of the first half was a very even battle between two good teams.
Half Time: Drybrook 8pts Frampton Cotterell 7pts
Drybrook started the second half in determined fashion and a great run from prop Tom Reed nearly brought a score after 2 minutes.
Drybrook continued to press and after another Reed burst that was held up just short of the line the ball was quickly recycled and Number 8 Liam Jackson was driven over for a try under a pile of players.
SubstituteMitch Baldwin who had just come on for the injured Tom Treherne unluckily saw his difficult conversion attempt rebound off the upright.
Midway through the half Drybrook gave themselves some breathing space when winger Sam Peaper wrestled the ball from a maul before crossing for a try near the posts for Baldwin to covert.
Frampton hit straight back with a try near the Drybrook posts following a big rolling maul.
Drybrook then began to get on top and after a quick penalty was illegally stopped under the posts the Frampton centre was shown a yellow card and Baldwin made no mistake with the easy kick.
Some great play from the restart led to the ball being moved wide and second row Marcus Cowles found himself on the overlap and he had a lot of ground to cover before touching down for the bonus point try in the corner.
Cowle’s celebration was short lived as a minute later he was shown yellow for a high tackle but Drybrook did not let up and continued to pound the visitor’s line.
A try had to come and it eventually did when Jackson broke from a scrum and offloaded to Moore who forced his way over the line. Baldwin’s successful conversion signaled the end of the game.
This was a good showing from Drybrook and Tom Reed deservedly got the Thomas and Fennell General Builders man of the match award.
