Drybrook under-15s kicked off the new season with a competitive encounter at Chepstow that was in the balance until the final whistle.

Drybrook went down to a 24-20 defeat and had opportunities to win in the final minutes with several overlaps – but they were unable to take advantage.

Try scorers for Drybrook were Brad Priest at the end of a fluid passing movement, Will Cook powering over in typical fashion, Jordan Dainty with a classy show-and-go and Brad Morgan dancing over from close range.

An evenly matched contest that will encourage both sides for the coming season.

Drybrook under-15s won a fascinating encounter against Old Cryptians in which the momentum shifted until Ethan Hopkins put the match beyond doubt with a superb try under the posts.

Facing a large, well-drilled pack, Drybrook combined brave defence and a fluid game and were rewarded with an opening try by Billie Bowdler.

Further tries came from JJ Tonks and Will Bees (both converted by Ollie Henson).

Old Cryptians roared back with successive tries to trail 19–15.

Nerves jangling, Drybrook dug deep and Hopkins sealed the 26–15 victory with the final play of the game, powering past four defenders on his way to the line.
