Competition Final

DRYBROOK 17pts LYDNEY 12pts

A Tom Treherne try hat trick with the final score coming in the dying seconds gave Drybrook victory over Lydney in a pulsating final at the Mannings. It was a close run thing with both teams having the chance to snatch victory but in the end Drybrook just shaded it to bring home the trophy.
Treherne put Drybrook into an early 12pts to nil lead with 2 tries and a conversion against a Lydney team temporarily down to 6 men when Callum Wyman was yellow carded for a deliberate knock on.
Back to full strength Lydney then gained the upper hand and brought the scores level through 2 well worked tries and almost grabbed a third but were just denied.
With the minutes ticking away Drybrook lost both Mitch Baldwin and Danny Price to injury and also squandered a couple of golden opportunities but eventually they managed the all-important score.
A length of the field move that involved some great backing up and off-loading in the tackle led to Treherne taking an inside pass from Mitch Bourrne to race over near the posts.

Drybrook Team; Mitch Bourne, Dan Price,
Sam Peaper, Tom Treherne, Ben Large (Capt),
Mitch Baldwin, Gareth Holdsworth.
Replacements; Mitch Renton, Will Greenway, Kristian Taft, Danny Griffiths,
Kieran Auker-Howlett.
