This was a very disappointing performance from Drybrook who were outgunned in the forwards and consequently spent most of the game on the back foot.
From the kick off, Chew Valley showed determination and flair, with their big and well drilled forwards supplying good ball for quick and incisive backs.
Eight minutes into the game, Drybrook were pushed off their own ball at a 15 metre scrum and the home side kicked the resulting penalty to take the lead.
Chew Valley continued to attack and converted another penalty when Drybrook failed to release after the tackle.
Twenty minutes in Drybrook full back Tom Treherne left the field with a head injury following a tackle and the consequent reshuffle saw Mitch Renton came on at No.8, with Sam Peaper moving to the wing and Kristian Taft to full back.
The home side then lost a man to the sin bin but in spite of this, Chew Valley continued to dominate the game and Drybrook tackling was found wanting.
Following a scrappy ten minutes of play, Drybrook started to get onto the game and following a line out, catch and drive, were awarded a penalty, which Ollie Clements kicked to take the score to 6 – 3.
Soon after this, Ben Large also received a head injury and was forced to leave the field – Chris Rawlings coming on as replacement.
Half time came with eight minutes added on for injuries.

Half Time:
Chew Valley 6pts
Drybrook 3pts

From the restart, Chew Valley were again on the attack and a well taken drop goal took the score to 9 – 3. Almost immediately after, Chew Valley ran the ball and through more missed tackles, scored a converted try, Drybrook struggled to make an impression on the game and twenty minutes into the half, had Danny Price sin binned for what was deemed a dangerous tackle. The resulting penalty took the score to 19 – 3.
At this point, Joe James replaced Marcus Cowles in the second row.
Two minutes later, following a Drybrook scrum, the Chew Valley No 8 stole the ball and another try was scored 24 – 3.
Drybrook gained the ascendancy over the next fifteen minutes but were unable to turn pressure into points – eventually being driven back and conceding another penalty 27 – 3.
However, Drybrook dug deep and continued to press forward, eventually scoring from a line out and a driving maul through Renton with Clements adding the conversion.
Luke Fisher and Mitch Renton were the stand out players but Drybrook will be hoping for a much improved performance in the next match.
